Music and Diplomacy

This is a picture of me and former band mates at the White House. The most memorable aspect of this 2012 performance was performing in front of politicians from both parties and watching everyone come together. This is the power of music. This new program brings together my love of music and my role as a diplomat together into a unique experience for students.

The program:

During this unique experience, students will learn rhythms from cultures around the world. We will then tie this to real world experiences, and how music has helped me personally bridge cultures we will be able to perform a different percussion instruments, each with its own unique sound. The experience will develop listening skills among the students as they learn how to give each instrument its own voice. They learn when the right time to have the spotlight is, such as doing a solo, and went to simply stay back and keep the beat going.
